HLF’s Board of Directors Announces New CEO
On behalf of the Halton Learning Foundation, I am delighted to announce that Marc Clare will be joining the organization as our new CEO beginning April 24, 2023. He takes over from Lesley Mansfield, who retired on March 24. Marc will be working with interim CEO Sherri Armstrong to ensure a smooth transition.
Marc has extensive charitable leadership experience, with a special focus on helping children and youth. This background, coupled with Marc’s ability to develop strategy and lead change, ideally positions him to lead HLF into the future.
As the executive director of the Halton Catholic Children’s Foundation for the past eight years, Marc led the development of an ambitious three-year strategic plan to double the number of students helped each year, and built a diverse revenue generation plan that increased revenue by several hundred percent.
Prior to his role at HCCF, Marc spent more than a decade in various management, operational and fundraising roles with the YMCA of Hamilton-Burlington-Brantford.
Marc is a graduate of the University of Toronto with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, and has taught part-time at the elementary level in schools across the Halton District School Board for seven years.
Marc is a long-time resident of Burlington, where he lives with his wife, two children and their rescue dog. In his spare time, Marc volunteers with the Knights of Columbus Council in Aldershot, and as board president of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Golden Horseshoe Chapter.
On behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to thank Lesley for her tremendous leadership since joining HLF in June 2014. Among her accomplishments, Lesley was instrumental in securing the three largest gifts in HLF’s history, helping to raise the profile of HLF across Halton, and successfully leading the organization through the pandemic.
We wish Lesley a well-deserved retirement, and welcome Marc to the HLF Team.
