Halton Learning Foundation CEO to Retire

The Board of Directors of the Halton Learning Foundation (HLF) has announced the upcoming retirement of CEO Lesley Mansfield after almost a decade of leadership, compassion, and stewardship.

HLF’s Board and staff wish to acknowledge Lesley for her inspiration, guidance and commitment to thousands of students in the Halton District School Board (HDSB).

Prior to joining HLF in 2014, Lesley had a long career in the credit union system, where her duties included managing partnerships with local and national charities. Outside of work, Lesley was recognized for her many contributions to the Halton community: Milton Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year 2009; the United Way of Milton 2009 Volunteer of the Year and Business Person of the Year 2011.

“Lesley’s dedication and passion for sharing the mission of HLF with the community has been key to her success,” said board chair Manon Dulude. “She helped raise HLF’s brand profile within the Halton business community and with HDSB staff and parents, and persuaded strong and committed individuals from the community to join HLF’s board of directors.”

Lesley was instrumental in securing the three largest gifts in HLF’s history, successfully leading the organization through the pandemic, and ensuring HLF is well positioned for a successful future.

Attesting to these many achievements, HLF was twice nominated for Non-Profit of the Year through the Burlington Chamber of Commerce and once through the Milton Chamber of Commerce.  Recently, HLF was recognized as the Non-Profit Association of the Year by the Halton Hills Chamber of Commerce.

“Supporting the community has been a passion throughout my career, and having the opportunity to help young people full-time through my role at HLF has been an honour and privilege,” Lesley said. “I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who cared enough to make a difference for a student in need. So many kids simply want to fit in and, with our donors’ support, every student has a chance to enjoy school and be successful.”

HLF’s Board of Directors is commencing a search process for a new CEO. Lesley will continue to lead HLF until her retirement on March 24, 2023.
