The Muslim Scholarship
Annual award of $1,000 for Grade 12 graduating studies — regardless of religion — who are pursuing full-time studies at a recognized Canadian college or university.
Eligibility
Graduating HDSB student who is entering his/her first year of university or college in September.
Criteria for Selection of Winner
- Recognizes students who make their communities more accommodating for the less privileged.
- Student must demonstrate a history of community service and leadership.
- High academic standing.
Application requirements
- Application form, plus an essay covering:
“Why is volunteering in the larger community important to you and how have you felt you’ve
made a difference in society?”
The committee needs to understand your thought process on why helping those less fortunate is important
to you as a person. You can elaborate on your volunteer work here as well. The essay should be no more
than one typed page, single spaced and font size of 10 or 12. - Your high school transcript from Grades 9 through Gr. 12 (first semester)
- Two letters of reference.
o One must be from a teacher from your current school,
o The other should be from an authority at a volunteer agency, highlighting your achievements and personal qualities.
