A $1,000 award created by Maureen Hagan to help young people appreciate that when they strive for something, true success is found more in the effort put forth than whether or not the goal is achieved.
Graduating student of T.A. Blakelock who is entering his/her first year of university or college in September.
Criteria for Selection of Winner
The student has participated in school athletics however not necessarily made a team
The student may be involved in extra-curricular activities either in school or in the community
The student possesses leadership qualities; enjoys cheering on their mates and raising people up.
Most importantly, the recipient has a “never give up” attitude and a work ethic that is obvious and admirable both academically and athletically.
The award is based more on efforts than on results.
