I’m Carrie the Backpack, and you can think of me as Halton Learning Foundation’s cheerful helper for Back to School.

As a backpack, I get to see the needs of students across the HDSB—from empty lunch bags to worn-out shoes—and I’m here to help change their stories.

Last fall, Louisa came to school carrying her books in a grocery bag. Her classmates noticed, and she became quiet and withdrawn. She felt embarrassed.

Thanks to caring people like you, Louisa’s teacher reached out to HLF. Soon, Louisa’s family bought her a new backpack filled with supplies—and, even more importantly, the confidence to feel like she belonged.
